Although she has traveled around the globe, Beth Valentine’s favorite spot in the whole world is just thirty-nine miles from Talkeetna, Alaska, where Beth owns her very own bead shop – The Beadberry Patch. A little cabin next to the India River is Beth’s favorite spot to relax and hang out with family.
Born in Alaska, Beth left home to go to Seattle Pacific University. She then moved to the Aleutian Islands in Alaska to be a teacher. A couple years later, Beth moved back to the northeast part of Alaska to start her family. She now lives happily with her husband and her four kids, aged thirteen, fourteen, nine, and six.
Beth loves traveling and has been to almost every state. She has also traveled to Nepal, Mexico, Thailand, and Korea, and she would like to visit India someday. Traveling is one of Beth’s favorite things to do and cites her travels as some of the best experiences she has ever had.
Beth’s life has also had its challenges. Beth’s nine-year-old son has a genetic disorder, Nerve Hyper Mitosis Two, a disorder that causes tumors in the nervous system and brain. Already, he has had two brain surgeries and has lost the hearing in one ear. Although Beth has tried to give her son as normal of a life as possible, he must be careful because he could lose the hearing in his other ear at any time. While his tumors haven’t been growing for the last two years, the Valentine family is still hoping and waiting. Beth says they just hope it doesn’t get worse and deal with it day by day.
Whether it is traveling around the world, or working at the Beadberry Patch, Beth Valentine tries to live her life to the fullest; and love, learn and grow from every experience she has.
