Alaska Is:
Alaska is everything that can’t be seen in Michigan. The mountains are so beautiful that they take your breath away every time you look at them. There is wildlife everywhere you look and you don’t see that very often anymore. Alaska is also the place where you grow up and make new friends and become more independent. Your responsibilities become larger and if you don’t live up to them you let more people down than just yourself. After having climbed two mountains you realize that no matter how hard something may seem you can do anything you want. Alaska is home to new and exciting opportunities that give us the chance to realize how lucky we are to be able to experience all these exciting things.

Final Reflection:
I applied to go to Alaska because it sounded like so much fun. Having had both of my parents go on the trip I felt like I had to go and see all this for myself. I also applied because it is a fantastic learning experience that allows you to grow into a better person. Over the three weeks that I have spent in Alaska we have done so many amazing things. We ran a race, climbed two mountains, and learned so much about the Alaskan heritage. I opened my horizons to so many new things that I would never have been able to experience any place but in Alaska. Everyone bonded so much over the course of the past three weeks. We became one large family. On the last night we stayed in Alaska, during hug time everyone started crying because even though we were all ready to go home, no one wanted to leave the place that had been our home for the past three weeks. I think everyone has learned that we canal get along even if we weren’t friends at school.
