Alaska Is...

a place I would love to live, a place that has no limits. You can go from sea level to the highest point in North America to the Arctic Circle and to the farthest place in North America, all in the same state. It is also a state of mind. Once you have been to Alaska it is in your blood. You can never shake it.

Final Reflections

The opportunity to work with today’s youth gave me a glimpse of our future and for the most part I am pleased at what I see. Traveling throughout Alaska is an adventure of a lifetime. This trip was my second time in Alaska. My memories from the preview trip were refreshed by my return and also new ones were made. Seeing whales for the first time was truly amazing. Traveling to north of Denali was the furthest north I have been in my life, as I am sure is true for most of the people on this trip. The last time I was here I could not see Mt. McKinley, and this time I could see the summit. I made lots of new friends. Spending time in such a close-knit group is almost a family-type bond.
