Craig Carrel

Most people dream about owning their own business but, Craig Carrel is one of the lucky few who has made this dream a reality. Carrel a tall, middle aged, brown haired man who always wanted his own business and to be his own boss worked hard to accomplish his goal. In 1987, Carrel, Jim Capo, and Gary Grigowski (who’s daughter is on the trip this year) started a plastics company.
Carrel is married to Debbie Carrel who came on the trip last year. They will have been married 19 years this September. He has three kids; Meredith who is on the trip, she will be in 11th grade, Patrick who will be in 9th grade, and Ryan who will be in 7th grade. The Carrel family enjoys traveling and skiing. Carrel has visited Japan, Korea, and North Carolina on business trips. They have traveled to Colorado, Yellow Stone, and Utah on family trips.
Carrel is originally from Latin, Utah. Carrel lived with his mother Bonnie, father Jeff, older brother Jeff, older sister Leslie, and little sister Sue in Utah. The Carrel family moved around a lot, about every 2-3 year, due to the fact that his father was in the Air Force. Before Carrel lived in Utah he lived in Germany for three years. After his fathers retirement they all moved to Utah. Carrels parents and Leslie still live in Utah, Jeff lives in Philly, and Sue lives in Japan.
Once Carrel settled down in Utah he went to school at Latin High School. In high school Carrel ran cross-country and was good at math and science. He then graduated from the University of Utah in 1982 with a degree in Chemical Engineering.
Carrel says he is looking forward to Homer and going on the whale watch. “I’m looking forward to spending two weeks getting to know the AGLP family… The best part is experiencing this with my daughter, Meredith.”
