Traveling Man In Alaska

After living in Italy, North Carolina, Korea, and even Guam for his job in the military, it isn’t surprising to find Benjamin Bruce living in Anchorage, Alaska. He has resided there for one and a half years now. He enjoys Anchorage because, as he said, “It’s a small town, but it has everything a big town has.”
After going to Georgia Southern University for a while, Bruce decided to join the military. “The real reason is that I got tired of college,” he explains. So he is with the army, and is now going back to Alaska.
Bruce, a laid back guy, was born in Spain, and now lives with his two kids, Tamiya, five years old, and Tariq, two years old. On the airplane where I interviewed him, he was coming back from visiting his mom in Georgia. He left his kids there with their grandmother. “If I could live anywhere in the United States,” explains Bruce, “I would live in Atlanta because I just love Georgia.”
This 6’3” former college basketball player liked living in Italy the most of all the places he’s been. “I like the history and all the tourism,” says Benjamin, “You’ve got Venice, Rome, and the Leaning Tower of Piza.”
Bruce hopes to have an exciting time in Alaska. Whether Benjamin Bruce is serving in Italy, Michigan, or Alaska, it’s all for the same reason - to serve his country.
