All 50 States
How many of the fifty states have you been to? Chuck Moffett, an elderly man, has been to ever state in the U.S. except for Oregon and Washington. Ever since college, he has traveled all over the United States and has finally visited Alaska, his forty-eighth state.
Born in Salem, Ohio, Moffett went to a small Christian college and studied history and religion. After that, he started to cross each of the 50 states off the list. He first went to Missouri, then Maryland, Virginia, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Colorado, and then back to New Mexico where he is currently living. During all the moving, Moffett managed to reach 48 states.
Out of all the states he’s visited, Moffett’s favorite was Colorado. “I like the diversity, weather, wildlife, recreational, and the job opportunities,” he said. Moffett and his wife Linda, who he met in college, lived in Colorado for four years because they had three grown daughters living there. “When two of my daughters moved,” Moffett explains, “ We moved back to New Mexico to help take care of my wife’s mother.”
Moffett and his wife have traveled to a lot of places in Alaska, some of which AGLP has also traveled to. They fished for King Salmon and had a fun time. “ It was a great day,” he chuckles, “ But the fish weren’t very good.” The couple also went on the bus tour in Denali National Park and went out on Resurrection Bay, both of which the Alaska Great Lakes Project has done.
Moffett has been in Alaska for three weeks already, and they are flying back home this Thursday. They hope to get to every state that they haven’t been to yet. “I thought we were going to be there (Washington and Oregon) this trip,” says Moffett, “But we missed our trip because of high winds.” Moffett and his wife have already traveled a lot, and even after the visit their fiftieth state, they hope to travel a lot more.
