Getting Away to Fish

How would you like to get away from work for five days with eleven of your closest friends? Jolly, dark-haired Stanley Zdun has come from Annapolis, Maryland to Seward, Alaska to fish for salmon and halibut. Alaska is an “awesome” place for his friends from all over the country to come together and fish. Some of the eleven have come from
Maryland, Virginia and even from Texas just to have a vacation and be with friends while doing something they love.
Alaska is Zdun’s excuse to get away and be with friends. Sometimes his job consulting for the government can get a little stressful and he just needs a little break from life. The most important part of his trip is getting together with his friends. Most of these men’s friendships were formed through friends of friends or through the military. Some of them grew up together or were neighbors at some point in their life.
“It really doesn’t matter if we catch any fish, it’s just that we’re here having fun,” Zdun said. For Zdun, the most important part of coming all the way from Annapolis, Maryland to Seward is not to see how many fish he can catch, or even get away from his daily life, but to have fun doing what he wants to do and spend time with his friends. To get away from everything for five days to do something you love is an opportunity that many would take advantage of. If that opportunity was open for you to come to the great state of Alaska, I believe that just about anyone would be willing to take some time to go.
Most people come to Alaska to be with friends or family, do something that they love and see things that are amazing. If you are going to experience new things you should do it with people you love or people that you know. Just as he has shared Alaska with his friends, Zdun wants to bring his kids and grandkids when they get older to Alaska so they can “see what is amazing.”
