Alaska Is...

Alaska is the awe of seeing a white-capped mountain while sweat is dripping down your back.
It is the thought that one step farther is actually one step closer to seeing a whole new world.
Alaska is realizing that people change and that no one knows you better than you do.
It is yourself to extremes, even if you are the only one to see the greatness of your success.
Alaska is learning to expect the unexpected and to take whatever life decides to throw your way…even if it is root beer in your hair.
Alaska is finding out what you are made of and what you can make out of yourself.

Final Reflections

The past 3 weeks have been filled with once in a lifetime experiences. Of course there were the experiences like climbing mountains, catching halibut, and seeing more wildlife than I could ever imagine, but there were also different types of experiences. I became great friends with a group of people I probably would have never talked to unless I was forced to. Now were forced to go home and wake up to silence instead of the once annoying chit-chat and songs that we have all become accustomed to. I feel like I have lost a huge part of me when I think about what was started, and possibly left in Alaska. What about hug time What about those long van rides that created so many different emotions? what about me new friends? I will take everything I have learned from AGLP ’08 with me for the rest of my life, but no matter what, I have learned one huge thing: Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.
