Alaska Is...

Alaska is a place of peace and serenity.
A place of realization and reflection.
A place to connect with the world around you.
A place of beauty and inspiration.
A place that we’re all lucky to have.
A place with unlimited possibilities.
A place that makes everyday things seems miraculous.
A place that has shaped me.
A place that has changed me.
A place that has helped me.
A place that has saved me.
The place that I will never forgot.

Final Reflections

Three years ago at this time I had this very assignment, to write a final reflection about Alaska.  It seems as though this would be fairly easy, seeing as the last three weeks of my life I’ve spent in Alaska.  It’s not.  I’ve reached a point where I’ve realized I can’t express all of my thoughts and emotion is a single reflection.  I couldn’t even express what I’d like to in ten reflections.  You don’t understand Alaska by reading something someone wrote.  You have to experience it for yourself.  I’ve had four chances to tell anyone that visits the website what Alaska is all about.  Four chances to tell my stories and share my experiences.  It took me four years to figure out I can’t write what I’d like to.  I can’t express everything in writing because it just wouldn’t be good enough.  Alaska is a place to change and learn.  I’ve done both.  Three years ago when I sat to write a reflection I was an entirely different person.  I like who I am now better and I like that I can say I am a better person for being here and meeting all these new people.  Through Alaska I have become outgoing and aware of my surroundings.  Alaska changes people.  I’m glad I am one of those people.
