The Mountainous Journey Through Alaska
A Series of Tales by Nick Bolger Part 4

The cannons fired and the race began under the midnight sun. Thousands of people ran the popular race celebrating the summer solstice. Our AGLP group was part of the myriad.
Nick Bolger, an eighth grade participant in AGLP, ran in the Midnight Sun Run for the first time in his life. “I ran the race in one hour. My favorite part of the race was that I finished.”
Although his favorite part was finishing, he enjoyed the pre- race. “ I liked to see the different costumes. My favorite were the girls dressed in their skies.” Many of the racers took part in a costume competition.
After the race we made our way over to the Panners Midnight Baseball Game. “It was amazing to go to a baseball game at midnight and have it still be light out. Baseball is one of my favorite sports so it was fun watching the game.” That night the Panners beat the Southern California Running Birds by a landslide.
So far, Nick has enjoyed his stay in Alaska. His favorite place to stay so far has been the Tanana Valley Campground in Fairbanks. To learn more about Nick’s adventures, check for the next edition to the series of exciting tales.
