A Fire Worth Fighting For

Fighting fires and saving lives, Daniel Carvy isn’t afraid of anything. He is a 26 year- old who has been a firefighter for two years. He says, “ I just love the good feeling I have of knowing I saved someone’s life.“ He loves feeling like he’s done something really helpful and feeling like a hero at the end of the day.
Daniel knew he wanted to become a firefighter ever since he was little. He saw pictures of his grandpa putting out fires and looked up to him. To get where he is now, he had to train hard and build up his strength. Daniel says with all the hard training that they did, now they are ready for anything.
Daniel says, “The scariest thing I’ve ever had to do was save a family of four from a stove fire.” So far into his career there have been no people that Daniel and his crew couldn’t save. Right now Daniel is working nights into mornings, which is the third shift. He says he hopes to get first shift, which is mornings into afternoons. He explained that he wants first shift so that he can spend more time with his wife and three year old son.
Daniel plans to be a firefighter until he retires. He says that he just loves being out there and seeing the thankful faces of the people he saved. Knowing that he is the cause of this, he feels lucky to have such a wonderful job and the benefits of hearing the compliments from everyone. Daniel claims that he has simply been blessed.
