Alaska Is...Alaska is something indescribable, and experience that I have already had at 14 that most people have lived their entire lives without. I have become closer to people that before the trip I would never have even talked to. This trip has pushed me and taught me lessons I wouldn’t learn at home like pitching a tent and learning that I really don’t need to straighten my hair every day or how I will never take my bed or shower for granted again. Although I miss my family and my home, I don’t regret coming at all, and I feel sorry for the people that shoes not to come because they will never see what I have seen, learned what I know now or felt what I have felt. They may be taking showers every day and sleeping in, but I’m having a great day because every day in Alaska is a great day. Final ReflectionsThis trip has been one of the best experiences of my life. I will never forget how much I have learned and changed on this trip. Alaska did push me—I ran six miles without walking or stopping once, and I have never run three straight miles in my life before. I climbed a mountain, touched a glacier, and saw a while. Not many people can say that. One of my absolute favorite parts of the trip was everyone becoming like a family. We all know each other now and have lived with each other for three weeks. We have done everything together. That is the thing I will miss most. The most important thing I have learned is that I can do anything, no matter what anyone says. Although I’m homesick, I know about four days after I’m home I will be homesick for Alaska.
