Alaska Is...

Alaska is…my safe haven where my tears become the ocean and my breath the wind.  Where nobody cares how much your car cost or what you wear the mountains become my guardians and the trees and animals my family.  Where every turn in the road is one with the land.  Where my dreams and hopes become reality, where everything seems possible and where the sky is my home.  Alaska is a safe haven where everything feels welcome.

Final Reflections

I used to think to myself, what could be so special about a mountain or an ocean when you can see those lots of different places?  But now that I have been to Alaska I realize that yes, you could go to a lot of places and see mountains and the ocean, but where else can you go and drive by a moose or bear crossing sign or be sitting on your porch drinking coffee and see and whale breach right in front of you?  Where else can you stay up all night because it never gets dark?  Where else can you watch the moon rise, move sideways then set within a couple of hours?  Where else can you climb a glacier or run a 10K at midnight?  Where else could you go to watch a baseball game at midnight and not need lights on the filed?  So yes, you can go anywhere to see mountains and oceans but you can’t go just anywhere to see breathtaking sites and take exciting climbs up mountains with a bear six feet from you.  You have to go to Alaska to experience true nature.
