Alaska Is...

Alaska is
A clean slate Where my history
Is washed free
No doubts or guilts
Stalk me here
A chance
For a new image, a new future
In Alaska,
All the small things
Float away
Down the river
Into the ocean
They just don’t matter
Anymore.

Final Reflections

The North Star has been used by travelers for centuries.  No matter what the date, it is always a light in the northern sky.  Before the Civil War, escaping slaves would follow it to freedom.  It would guides them to places where the hot, sticky weather turned chilly, and southern accents turned to northern ones.  Well, I too follow the North Star.  It guides me to places where bathrooms turn into outhouses, and beds turn into sleeping bags.  But I don’t mind because the plains turn into mountains, and strangers turn into friends.  I escape, just like slaves 200 years ago, trusting the north start to take care of me, and it has.  Even though I’ve only traveled to Alaska twice, I can safely say that the north star guides me home.
