Alaska Is...

Alaska is a land of extremes. 80 degree days and 40 degree nights. High mountains and low valleys. Huge ocean waves and calm inland lakes. Giant bears and tiny squirrels. Ferocious wolves and gentle sled dogs. Alaska is a land of firsts. The first boat ride. The first taste of halibut. The first mountain climbed. The first sight of a grizzly. Alaska is the crest of a wave over the prow of your boat. Alaska is the view from the summit of a mountain. Alaska is the place where strangers become friends and where friends become brothers. Alaska is where the grass is your bed, the clouds are your ceiling, and the wind is your bedtime story. Alaska is huge. Alaska is beautiful. Alaska is home.

Final Reflections

This summer was something I'll never forget. My horizons were broadened, I did things I'd never done before, even my last time in Alaska, and I saw huge growth in all of the participants. Old friends of mine became closer, and I made several new ones as well. Alaska is a place that my heart will never leave, and I know I'll go back someday.
