Dreams

It is important to follow your dreams; people will go to great lengths for their dreams, which is important because with out them what do we live for? For ten years, Fannie Christenson has held a seasonal job as a park ranger in the summer. She spends the rest of her time substitute teaching and going to school to earn her degree.
Originally from  Minnesota, Fannie long held a dream  of traveling to Alaska. However, with her megare income from various odd jobs, such as working in the box office for the Minisota orchestra and playing base in a punk rock band, she was unable to afford it.
Fannie decided to move to Alaska. “The only way I’d make it up here was to get a seasonal job,” said Fannie. So, with hopes and dreams on the line, she set off for Alaska. When she first arrived in the state she took a job at a remote fishing resort in the south east of the state, where she worked cutting wood and cleaning the fish.
Fannie now works as an education ranger in Telkitna in the summer, the rest of the year she goes to school to get a degree as a teacher of English as a second language, and Spanish. Her decision to become a teacher all comes from job availability. In a small town like telketna the most stable fields to work in are either working for the government, teaching, or working in a small business store.

Alaska is a big state with a big heart and an open mind, willing to accept anyone, even a punk rock playing, spainish speaking, park ranger from Minnesota. Alaska is a special place that draws people from all over the world and it is easy to see why. Alaska is a beautiful place. There is no place in the world that draws people in like children to candy.
