Daily Report from the Journalism Committee

Down the Stretch We Come by Tyler

The first of July was a busy day to say the least. Concluding our stay in Seward, we were on our way to Homer, claimed to be the best part of the trip. Many stops were made on the way, one being at The Russian Orthodox Church just outside of Homer. It was a beautiful church with many great sites including the beautiful mountains and volcanoes. Time was also spent in silence in the church’Äôs cemetery, a place to honor the great mothers, fathers, and daughters, and sons of the Russian community around Homer. In the midst of all this action, we spent time writing thank you card to the over 300 businesses in the Marshall area that has made this trip possible. Once again, we thank you all! In the day’Äôs conclusion, we reached Homer. We then settled down in the beautiful and scenic campground that is Seaside Farms, one of the most scenic sites of the trip (and yes, it is where we are camping!) A beautiful night in Homer Alaska, and I know there will be many more to come.
